Who we are
Tennis for Charity’s mission is to change and advance the lives of young people through tennis. We provide funds for various tennis programs and partners who focus on the underserved and at-risk youth, many of whom might not otherwise have access to learn the game of tennis.
Tennis is one of the few sports that can be played for a lifetime and is one of the healthiest activities, both physically and mentally.
Tennis and tennis programs help youth:
- burn calories, build muscle, improve heart health, and increase bone strength.
- build independence, self-esteem and tactical thinking.
- develop skills to manage pressure and adversity.
- learn teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship and responsibility.
- improve brain functions in ways that aid memory, learning, creativity and behavior — all leading to better grades in the classroom.

Who we serve
Introduces tennis into Cincinnati public elementary schools by conducting programs during Phys Ed classes, after school tennis clubs and hosting tennis summer camps. In addition to introductory lessons, the program focuses on building tennis skills and teaching team competition with the goal that many students will continue to play in junior and senior high.
Provides tennis instruction and playing opportunities solely for children with Downs Syndrome.
A year-round program that provides tennis instruction to children with emphasis on the underserved and at-risk youth in the Greater Cincinnati Area. In addition to tennis, the program focuses on developing life skills, teaching healthy life habits, and conveying civic and social responsibility.
Provides a summer day camp for children of inner-city families who could not otherwise afford to learn the game of tennis. In addition to teaching tennis, the goals of the camp are to educate and mentor low-income inner-city youth, engage in healthy exercise, and teach good nutrition habits.
LEAP (Life & Education Advancement Pathway) program is held in the months of June and July at Ziegler Park in the Pendleton neighborhood. It combines tennis instruction with an educational component to help prevent the “summer slide” by keeping students’ minds active so they are prepared to start the next school year.
A 9-week summer tennis program operated by the Cincinnati Recreation Commission in many of the disadvantaged areas of the city. It introduces the game of tennis to children aged 6-14 by using a combination of instruction, games, and match play.
